1. Tibetan Golden Temple (Namdroling Monastery)
First stop, and already worth waking up early for. This is one of the largest Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in India — gold-painted, quiet, and genuinely impressive in the morning light before the crowds show up.
2. River Rafting at Barapole
If you want some adventure mixed in, Barapole offers Grade 4 rafting. It's fast and a bit intense — fun if you're up for it, totally skippable if you'd rather save the time for sightseeing.
3. Dubare Elephant Camp
Get close to elephants, feed them, watch them bathe in the river. Kids especially love this stop. Plan for at least 45 minutes here.
4. Chiklihole Dam
A quieter spot — water on all sides, no rush, no crowd. Good for a short break, some photos, and a breather before the next stop.
5. Madikeri Fort
17th-century fort right in Coorg's main town. There's a small museum inside if you want a quick dive into local Kodava history.
6. Omkareshwara Temple
An unusual temple — blends Gothic and Islamic architectural styles, dedicated to Lord Shiva, with a calm pond out front. Worth 15-20 minutes.
7. Raja's Tomb
Final resting place of the Kodava dynasty rulers, built in Indo-Saracenic style. Quiet and well maintained — a nice stop if you like history.
8. Abbey Falls
Tucked inside coffee estates, this is one of the prettiest stops on the route. There's a hanging bridge where you can get fairly close to the falls.
9. Raja's Seat
Last stop of the day — a hilltop garden with one of the best sunset views in Coorg. There's a small market nearby for local spices and chocolates before heading back.
